We have been receiving repeated inquiries from colleagues, which we would like to address. Therefore, we have compiled an FAQ list for you below. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us anytime at 📧 info@bereal-fubb.de.
Will you advocate for the payment of the capital city allowance (Hauptstadtzulage)?
Yes.
The collective bargaining parties have not concluded a corresponding collective agreement in the past four years. Therefore, miracles should not be expected from us; anything else would be dishonest.
If we achieve the majority, we would immediately initiate the conclusion of an allowance agreement with the Board of Trustees and the Steering Committee of Freie Universität.
This could be roughly as follows: “The Executive Board and the Staff Council Dahlem agree that employees covered by the collective agreement and apprentices shall be granted a capital city allowance at the level, for the duration, and according to the regulations for employees of the direct state administration of the State of Berlin. The granting of this allowance is subject to the reservation of funding by the State of Berlin.”*
*The reservation of funding is due to the underfunding of Freie Universität’s budget.

How do you finance the work of your electoral list?
To keep ourselves free from the influence of third parties, we finance ourselves through contributions among our list members.
What sets you apart from other electoral lists?
We prefer not to have to compare ourselves with other electoral lists. Since the information of all lists is known, we would rather encourage you to engage with the content of the lists and form your own opinion.
Our principles include, among others, plurality of opinions, respectful and non-patronizing communication, and respectful interaction. We consider ourselves critical, yet constructive and solution-oriented.

Why don’t you have a union supporting you?
Many members of our list are union members. However, they are not uniformly affiliated with just one union, but with several different unions – both well-known and lesser-known ones.
We stand for political pluralism because we firmly believe that democratic diversity strengthens our electoral list.
By the way, the Dahlem Staff Council is not led by a union, but by the personnel who work in this body. And although members of our list are union members, we prefer to be free from too strong influence of unions.
