We are committed to improving our work processes through the use of digitalization!

What does digitalization mean?

Digitalization is of enormous importance in our interconnected world. In an era where the internet and digital technologies are omnipresent, digitalization not only shapes our society and economy but also increasingly and sustainably transforms the working world. But what exactly does the term “digitalization” mean? At its core, digitalization is simply defined: it involves the conversion of paper-based processes (analog processes), media, and documents into formats based on data transmission through electrical or electromagnetic signals.
An example is the advent of computers, which brought about revolutionary changes in various areas of life. Previously, information was recorded on (paper) documents and sent by mail; today, we have access to a vast range of content via the internet.

The restrictive measures associated with the pandemic have also demonstrated how crucial digitalization has become in our lives. Streaming platforms, digital meetings, and the use of digital technologies in the workplace are just a few examples.

What does this mean for administration?

The digitalization of administration creates the foundation for time- and location-independent administrative services – no exceptions. However, flexible work is difficult to achieve without digital work processes. One thing is clear: administrative digitalization is not just an IT matter but also an organizational one.

What are our goals?

We aim to promote solution-oriented and pragmatic communication between employees, the central staff council, and the administration of FU Berlin. We advocate for the implementation of digital support tools in our daily work environment, such as the introduction of electronic time tracking.

We actively support the accelerated implementation of new digital services, such as e-recruiting and digital travel management.
